MERMAIDS - RP for Yoyo and Jan Yoshii

I'm mostly just posting this here so that we can discuss things in the event that Yoshii joins us. She has mentioned her interest and Facebook is only so helpful.

Plot
I have no real ideas for this at the moment. I went ahead with the idea of exploring a wrecked ship. I'm sure something will happen while we're there. Or we could find something of particular interest that takes us on an adventure elsewhere! Possibly involving evil sea-shaman or something!

World

I'm also redrawing her at some point, because I've changed my mind about how she looks.

Sophia Isurus
Appearance
Based on the Shortfin Mako Shark.
Sophia's shark tail is a blue-gray with a white underbelly. As it merges with her human body, the coloring becomes paler, leaving her with a pale gray skin tone. She is naturally a blonde, but has an undercut. She dyes the top part various colors at random; currently, it is turqoise. She has golden-orange scales on her chest, shoulders, and partially covering her arms. Her teeth are sharp, though not sharp enough to cause any real damage.

Background
Her maternal grandfather was a merman with golden scales, resulting in the scales his direct descendants have since borne. The rest of her family have been shark-borne. They are an exclusive, class-focused group of merpeople. While her family has been tolerated for the most part by the shark-borne, Sophia decided to leave them entirely, choosing instead to live among the "lower blooded castes." She became close friends with Mika at a fairly young age and has gotten into no end of trouble with her.

Personality
Sophia is an excitable girl who is always ready to go on an adventure. She is quite impetuous, often resulting in trouble. She is quite proud of her speed, as she is able to outspeed nearly everybody she knows. She has a love-hate relationship with swordfish; they are her favorite thing to eat, but their sword-like noses frighten her.

Abilities
Because shark. She has a keen sense of smell and can see well in dimmer lighting. If she focuses hard enough, she can sense the electrical field living creatures emit. She is also quite good at pinpointing the source of noises.

Actually, I think it's safe to just up and start roleplaying. No need for a profile yet. :3

But, yeah, at the moment, it's fine to start without a profile. Profiles just help flesh out a character so you're consistent.

Orianna

Appearance
Orianna has short, unkempt black hair and icy blue eyes, also having red markings are present under her eye. She wears dark grey fabrics around her chest, and her mermaid tail is blue with a silvery-gray underside. The A leather strap is fashioned around her waist to hold her swordfish blade.

Personality
Orianna is a vain and ambitious mermaid, taking pride in what she does. Orianna is called a “scavenger”, a thief known for looting abandoned vessels and stealing affluent seamen. Despite her occupation, she does work for someone who gets a share of the profits. However, she wishes to split from this person in order to pursue her own thief-oriented group. She will attempt to confront people if need be, but otherwise will not fatally harm or kill them. It’s too messy of job!

Background
She grew up in middle class family, but after a rival family destroyed her parents' reputation, Orianna, in a fit of rage, stealthily broke into the family's house, stole their prized belongings and inventions, sold them to a black market she discovered, and became infatuated with the activity ever since. Knowing its a shameful job to others, she keeps this secret from her recovering parents.

Abilities
Orianna prizes her speed when it comes to escaping any situations or battling with her swordsmanship skills. She is also capable "heating" her eyes, allowing her to see in dark areas of the ocean; this occurs when the markings under her eyes glow.

Mika Ameri

Appearance]

Mika's tail is based on an Orca.
Mika is a colorful mermaid, wearing lots of trinkets and ribbons, even though her tail is dominantly black but has a white underbelly which is why her human body is generally quite pale, matching it. Her hair is black, like the color of her tail but she sometimes add red highlights at the tips or just a streak somewhere to add color. Her eyes are purple in color.

Background
Mika's an orphaned mermaid along with her brother who had to go away for work while she stayed and keep a lookout at home. At a young age, she met Sophia whom ignited the spark in her of the fondness for adventure. They became best of friends very easily.

Personality

She is an enthusiastic mermaid. While also fond of doing inactive activities, also really love getting into adventures. Often very cheery and bubbly, she smiles a lot and enjoys a weird sense of "art" (like clam designs, moss paint, abstract fish eye collage) which she considers the best of her skills and often tries to bring it to the culinary arts (which can be not-so-successful...sometimes).


Abilities
Thanks to her being part-Orca, she has an affinity both to hunting and learning, being able to communicate with various fish languages. She can be a proficient hunter, but is not as effective alone and works better with a group or at least with someone else.

I don't even know how many tabs I had open about those sharks. Best thing was that I wasn't even on my computer, making it even more difficult.


..................So, does anyone have ANY idea what the heck is going on right now? I think we all have entirely different plans for dealing with this angler situation. xD;;

I'm just kind of rolling with it :O We'll see how to it turns out xD;;

I did some minor research on anglerfish because of reasons.

I now know far more about the reproductive cycle of the angler than I ever wanted to know.

I had no idea XD i was just.. going with the flow.
