Poe is lucky, I can't have much dairy products. I was diagnosed with Lactose Intolerance. I can't have anything with Whole Milk. Skim milk is fine. I have to use Almond Milk.

When a group of lactase deficient people have been given some milk every day for a few weeks, they have adapted, for example with tests showing that much less hydrogen gas was produced from lactose by intestinal bacteria after they had adapted (Pribila, et al., 2000).

I have also known people that handle milk better once the introduce sugar into it, making a sort of syrup out of sugar and water, before adding it into the milk. Like this.

In either case, the point is, some studies confirm that lactose intolerance can be handled by consuming dairy regularly.

As far as the sugar, well, a cup and a half spread throughout a gallon shouldn't be too noticeable. The salt wouldn't be tasted either.
