Usergroups?
Usergroup Question
I don't know if this is a thing you want, so I'm gonna put it to poll.
The options (that I can think of) look approximately like this:
Keep them as they are already!
The Bosses (admin), Almost The Bosses (mod), Not The Bosses (user) groups will remain as they are.
Revive WotN's Villages!
This would be on a by-request basis. No need to make Inferno if nobody wants to join.
Remake WotN's Villages!
The names would be similar, but different! (I had some ideas related to the pseudo-plot I had for the site if you want to see them? Not the plot, just the names.)
Color groups!
Blue Group, Purple People, etc. Strictly for colors.
Individual requests!
I do have the ability to change each individual user's name color, but that's boring.
How about this instead! (make suggestion)
Other. You have an idea? Tell me, please!
Because there are so few of us, it seems silly to have more than a handful of groups. We'd probably max it out at three or four. There would probably be no real "leaders" or any real purpose behind them beyond friendly rivalry sorts of things. We might make site events involving the groups, but chances are that they would simply be for things like "Count to 100 before a Mountain posts!" that Sand and Storm work together in. Or even simpler: name colors.

Re: Usergroup Question
How about~ Yoyo works on that totally super epic Tolkien-scale backstory and we base the groups that form out of that, so the site will be like the old WoTN in that it's very cohesive. As in the groups make sense with the backstory of the site itself.
I'm not quite sure what Lord Yoyo has in mind but if she makes a post apocalyptic or like pseudo-modern setting, I be too happy for words.
In place of that, color groups sound cool

Re: Usergroup Question
I like the idea of old usergroups coming back, but that said, I think they should be renamed, or at least chosen by their respective leaders on an as-needed basis.

Re: Usergroup Question
Yay usergroups!
I like the "village" sort of name since it is like more unity or whatever, but I don't think we need to name them after Naruto's 'Hidden Village' necessarily. We could name them after anything!
We could also experiment with different colours, so like maybe a yellow coloured one :0 and a green one :0

Re: Usergroup Question
I second amaterasu! I like new sort of villages (but doesn't have to be villages exactly..) but new! LOL
Re: Usergroup Question
I like the way they are set up now, simply because we are so small. Also, if we aren't from specific villages, it'll make RP's in different settings a little less confusing, maybe?? Like, say you're in "sand" but you want to play an RP where you are from "leaf" (for lack of better group names, atm.) assigning yourself to a 'village' might limit RP options?? Or would that not matter at all??
But I also like the colors idea - reminds me of DRRR.

Re: Usergroup Question
I don't think it'd matter too much for roleplay purposes, since most of it is, indeed, public already. If we really wanted to roleplay villages, we could just do that in the public area.
I suppose, in a way, we "could" do it in a rather .hack-esque sort of way in that we could make the villages, but roleplay in them instead of just having a group?
Honestly, outside of moderator level groups, I can't think of a real reason to have usergroups right now.
With something like, say... Naruto, or maybe Bleach even, where there's already some sort of inherent structural hierarchy and separate organizations / governments, such as the villages run by their chief 'Kage, or where Bleach has different races with their own, and then the Sereitei itself having the differing squads, etc... it makes sense... But the name of the site kind of implies a sort of nomadic feeling to me.
Free to roam wherever you like, in a way.

Re: Usergroup Question
hm... yeah we don't need more groups at the moment, but even nomads have tribes ;p
It does fit more with the wandering theme.

The page freaked out on me and I had to retype the first post. I forgot to include this in the retype:

I want a colour cause I don't like orangey brown. But I completely agree with Ama. :3

But right now, all of us being part of the Dollars is kinda okay~
Maybe we could have temporary event-only groups and after the events, just meh.

Temp event-only groups. That...is an idea that I might just rush off to Facebook and send a PM to Yoyo about. -Or I could wait for her to get online- Hm.

Re: Usergroup Question
That sounds like it might work. I'm sure a lot of you don't like the G word, but Gaia does that every now and then, mostly for holidays. Creates an event where you compete against each other, then after it's over, just closes it down.

Re: Usergroup Question
I don't think anyone really cares about Gaia one way or the other, I mean, back in the day a lot of used it to find people to join WotN. So I doubt anyone hates it.

Re: Usergroup Question
I remember those days. xD Q and I got into an argument over it. Think YoYo did too, because I wouldn't recruit over it, because it broke Gaia's ToS. xD

Re: Usergroup Question
I've been thinking. we don't need a specific default theme for all the groups. Like they don't have to all be villages, or whatever.
Plus, we could have a creative event to come up with ideas for the names of the groups, and vote on which ones we like best.
Since it doesn't have to be a unified theme, we could just come up with whatever, so someone wants 'the Dollars' for example, and another comes up with "Banana fan Sunday Special" for another, and then we can just roll with that.

Re: Usergroup Question
^ I do like the idea of having you guys help with the name creation.
Like, even if it was only for funsies to color your names.
We could also have groups for events that would override (or not?) your normal groups for short periods of time. (Yes, like Gaia's special events.)

Re: Usergroup Question
Oh, didn't even think of the fact that we don't have to really be themed, and I agree with the whole participation in name-making - it could be fun.

Custom group names, huh?
I just imagined a group named "Wandere"
Tagline: "I-It's not like we want you to join us! ... B-Baka!"

Re: Usergroup Question
Gaia's "membergroups" are pretty much like this. Last year, they had a Kitsune vs Tanuki event. You picked one you wanted to side with, and did forum events to get items, based on participation. They had one a long while ago for Halloween where it was Humans vs Vampires, for example.sammythebootlegger wrote:Oh, didn't even think of the fact that we don't have to really be themed, and I agree with the whole participation in name-making - it could be fun.

For example, we could do a sort of... Roleplay fighting event thing. Set up two factions and just have a sort of tournament DBZ style, and just keep going with it until we have a winner in first place.
Actually, this sounds like fun. We could use the dice function that was added... Hmm... I'm going to have to set this up now. xD

Re: Usergroup Question
I'm sensing that we would like to have "permanent" groups that are created/voted on by you guys, but the option of having event-based groups is there in case we need groups for events.
Did I get that right?
If so, which set of options would you prefer:
1. Two major rounds of voting. Theme ideas are submitted, then voted upon. Group names are then submitted/voted on.
2. One major round. Just group names are submitted. Can be either:
a. Sets of group names
b. Individual group names
3. Other??

Re: Usergroup Question
That sounds about right.
Hmm, something like option 2, but since there's so few of us active right now, could we submit more than one group name per person?? Or perhaps just have an open chat about it to kind of come to a consensus??
